Diane's Tip of the Month

Everyone should have the equivalent of three to six months' expenses in savings. If your job is in a volatile industry, or otherwise unstable, the amount should be six months' expenses. The most popular place for this "emergency fund" is a money market fund. It should be easily accessible, and not risk the loss of any principle . Many money market funds also have check-writing privileges. For ideas on higher-yielding investments that also qualify for emergency funds, talk to a financial planner.
